HISTORY
On the third Saturday in August of 1831, a few members met in the home of Bro. Angus Alexander, this place being in Weakley County, Tennessee.
*At this meeting, letters were called for and read, and fellowship was declared for each other.
*A covenant was called for, which met the appropriation of both the members and presbyter, & a Confession of Faith was read and approved.
*After a song was sung & the right hand of fellowship was given, a Charge was delivered by Bro. Samuel McCowan and the church was constituted.
*The assembly resolved that the church be called Thompson Creek Baptist Church and they would meet each second Saturday afternoon and the second Sunday morning.
*Bro. Samuel McCowan was elected as pastor & Bro. J. Lively was appointed church clerk. There were twelve members, one of which was a slave of Bro. Alexander.
The Original Members were as follows:

William Brooks Mandy Brooks Tilus, a servant of Angus Alexander
*The congregation continued to meet in the Alexander home until they eventually built a one-room church building, located on the Old Paris and Dresden Road, to worship in.
*In 1947, the church building was remodeled and Sunday School rooms were added to it.
*On Sunday night, December 18, 1960, the church burned and the congregation continued to meet in the Central School Building.
*A plot of ground was bought from Mr. John Lovelace in Como, TN, just across the Weakley line in Henry County, to build a new church on.
*Bro. A.W. Porter of Greenfield, TN, was the pastor at that time.
*On Sunday morning, August 13, 1961, the first service was held in the new church building. On that day, five people presented themselves for membership, two seeking baptism, and three by transfer of letter from other Baptist churches.
