CHURCH HISTORY
Long Heights Baptist Church was founded in 1978 by Bro. Windal Walker, who served as Pastor until 1988 when Bro. Lynn Walker became the Interim Pastor. In 1990, Bro. Mike Peterson accepted the call to pastor LHBC. The church continued to grow, adding a gym along the way, which in 1998 was partially converted into a fellowship hall. Also in 1998, Daniel Doss was named the Youth/Music Leader.
In 2000, Bro. Kenny Carr was called as Pastor. That same year, as the Lord continued blessing Long Heights and attendance continued to grow, the fellowhsip hall/gym was converted into the worship center with a seating capacity of 320. 2001 saw the need to go to two morning services.
Fundraising for a new, larger building began in March of 2002 and was called the ROCK – Reaching Others for Christ’s Kingdom. Long Heights purchased 25 acres of land and relocated from 95 Doug Lane to 260 Old Paris Rd. On August 28, 2005, they joyfully worshipped the First Lord’s Day in the new ministry facility. The ROCK campaign continues and is anticipating having the church fully paid for in 2025.
